This medicine relaxes the blood vessels to promote the smooth flow of blood and increases water excretion from the body, thus decreasing high blood pressure.

Telmisartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone- secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT, reseptor in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland.It is a partial agonist of PPARy receptor and thus reduce glucose, insulin and triglycerides level. It has Higher affinity for AT, receptor Chlorthalidone blocks the Sodium – Chloride pump and inhibits the re-absorption of Sodium and water, thereby increasing its excretion.
It is given to adults whose blood pressure is not controlled by telmisartan monotherapy.
Pregnant and lactating women should avoid using this tablet it may lead to fetal toxicity.
Alters potassium levels hence patients taking potassium supplements should intimate doctor before consuming the tablets.
